Your nervous system is constantly scanning for threats. When it detects danger (real or imagined), it activates survival responses: fight, flight, freeze, or fawn.

"I have to please everyone or I'm selfish"
"I have to achieve constantly or I have no value"
You perform this identity so consistently that you've forgotten it's not actually you.
And every time you try to change or grow, this image identity whispers: "But that's not who you are."
So you stay stuck in a version of yourself you created decades ago—even though it no longer fits.
